Here is another AMAZING session from another INCREDIBLE client that we just HAD to share with you!! Miss J came to us with a vision of what she wanted for her shoot, and man oh man did we have fun planning and putting her vision into action. Harmony and I worked together (she’s the best PIC “partner in crime” that I could ask for) to make this session as incredible as possible! Speaking of fabulous, take a minute to head on over to Harmony’s Page and give her a LIKE and shout-out! Her work is superb and I couldn’t do what I do without her talent in my studio!
Miss J is full of spunk, beautiful, and absolutely incredible to hang out with. As with all of our clients, Harmony and I felt like Miss J was an old friend by the end of her session. We are so blessed to get to meet and experience so many amazing women; all with different stories, coming from different walks of life. Every woman we meet changes us, and our hope is that they walk away changed as well. I love what Miss J had to say when asked about her favorite moment from her experience with Kellie Mae…
When Kellene put the first photo up on the screen during my SAME DAY PREVIEW of my images, I could not believe it was me. I turned to her and said, “That’s me? I’ve shocked my ownself!!!” Between hair, make-up, lighting, a beautifully staged set I transformed from a busy wife and mother of four into a sultry, confident and sexy woman. I will remember that feeling for a long time…a moment when I saw what I am capable of. My husband tells me regularly how beautiful and sexy he thinks I am. But for the first time in a long time, I looked at the screen and saw what my husband sees in me everyday, but this time I actually believed him.
Ladies, there is SO much power behind the lens. We live in a world where we base our lives on 1200 calories because that is what we’ve been “told” is right. We live in a world where we scrutinize every single inch of our bodies, never believing in the women that we truly are, but only aching for a mis-construed version of ourselves. Take a chance on YOURSELF, to be YOURSELF. Remember, you are loved RIGHT NOW, as you are… why not capture it? Take the time to read Miss J’s responses to her session experience and get a real-woman perspective of what a Kellie Mae experience brings others.
Q. Why did you want to do a boudoir shoot?
A photographer approached me about doing a boudoir shoot for her four years ago and I did not feel comfortable. Over the last few years I’ve taken notice of beautiful boudoir photos that were tastefully done. After my mom had a double mastectomy, I realized how quickly our bodies can change. It became important for me to document where my body is right now. Plus, I thought it would make a wonderful gift for my husband.
Q. How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
I was so impressed with the preparation Kellene offered leading up to the shoot…her questionnaire, instructions, advice, Pinterest page. Long before I met her, I knew I was working with a professional. I was preparing to expose an intimate side of myself and wanted to make sure it was in front of a lens of someone I trusted. Without meeting Kellene ahead of time I could tell through her communication, I was not going to meet her at a seedy motel for second-rate photos. I was working with a talented photographer, but also a keen businesswoman.
Q. Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
Follow Kellene’s lead, ask questions, and look online for ideas.
Q. Your favorite moment of the whole experience?
When Kellene put the first photo up on the screen. I could not believe it was me.
Q. Lingerie/shoes/accessories – any thing you want to share about what you wore, where you shopped, links etc?
 Shoes – Victoria Secret
Lingerie – Victoria Secret
Thigh Highs – Fredricks
Oversized Sweater – Charlotte Russe
Q. Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.
Beauty means letting go. It means allowing that light in you to shine without any thought at all. Letting it shine bright without using a filter for the world…without caring what others think, what they might perceive or interpret.
Q. Just for fun favorites: share your favorite lyrics from a song, or a favorite quote.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? – Marianne Williamson
Q. Did this experience change the way you see yourself, or the way you think of beauty? Anything else you want to share about your experience?

Shortly after the shoot I had surgery and spent two weeks in loose fighting PJs and sweats. On the days when I felt absolutely disgusting, I reminded myself that it is temporary and I know what I am CAPABLE of. The woman in the beautiful photos is the woman who rests inside me every day and there are appropriate and inappropriate times for her to come out. There are times when she is simply too tired to emerge. But, rest assured, she is ALWAYS there.
